SKINNATUR RECTANGULAR RECYCLED LEATHER CHARCOAL COASTER: CERTIFICATION
These rectangular coasters are in fact made from "leftover" leather to use resources sustainably. Produced in Europe in a socially responsible way, they are made from about 80 percent recycled leather and the remaining percentage from natural rubber.
Here are the main features of the certification, Oeko-Tek Leather Standard, of this type of leather, scientifically tested against harmful substances:
- harmless to human health
- its testing criteria are globally standardized
- every leather, thread and button has been tested against over a thousand harmful substances
- limit values for harmful substances are checked at least once a year
- the more intensive the skin contact, the stricter the requirements for the OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD laboratory tests

THE GLOBAL RECYCLE STANDARD
The Global Recycle Standard is promoted by Textile Exchange, one of the leading international non-profit organizations for sustainable and responsible development in the textile industry. The standard recognizes the importance of recycling for the growth of a sustainable consumption and production model, with the goal of encouraging the reduction of resource consumption (water, energy and virgin raw materials) and increasing the quality of recycled products.
GRS involves the issuance of a third-party verified environmental statement that ensures the recycled material content of their products, the maintenance of traceability throughout the production process, restrictions on the use of chemicals, and compliance with criteria at all stages of the production chain. Steps that are not covered by certification are waste collection, sorting, grading and grouping. Products and manufacturing activities can be certified under the GRS.
The Global Recycle Standard guarantees:
- products containing at least 20 percent pre-consumer and post-consumer recycling material;
- manufacturing activities and processes through which recycled material is used to make intermediate products (e.g., yarns and fabrics) or finished products for consumers, using management models and procedures that comply with the requirements.
