The earliest evidence of the use of honey by humans, who probably ate it from the earliest times, can be dated to about 10,000 years ago. While inAncient Egypt honey was at least initially a luxury food, a royal and divine prerogative, in the Greece of Aristotle a keen interest inbeekeeping was manifested in the form of treatises (later taken up by Latin authors).
