The BIRRATEQUE™ Collection.
Created in collaboration with Centro Studi Assaggiatori (International Sensory Analysis Specialists), this collection is complete with every glass useful for tasting different beers.
In fact, each style of beer has its own organoleptic characteristics, which is why each one must be served in an appropriate glass capable of enhancing its characteristics.
The shapes and sizes of these glasses are the result of studies, research and experimentation :
- shapes, sizes and the quality of the glass influence the color, aroma and taste of the Beer.
The shape/design of the glass must be appropriate to the style of Beer being poured into it;
- the appropriate/correct glass emphasizes and develops the authentic flavors of the Beer;
- the internal volume of the glass must be greater than the Beer contained in it so as to create an adequate aromatic chamber (headspace). Only in this way can the true flavors of the beer be perceived.
Conversely, if the glass is filled to the brim, the aromas fade into the surroundings and the flavor is distorted.

The shape and size of the glasses are designed for each style of beer maximizing the perception of proper aromas and taste sensations.
The characteristics of these glasses are:
a) to convey the beer when drinking by distributing it along the entire oral cavity and not only to the center of the tongue;
b) to allow the beer to enter the mouth at a limited speed and without turbulence to give time for the tongue and nose to perceive all the flavor and aroma components (pleasant tactile sensation on the palate);
c) to avoid allowing the beer to overheat in the glass;
d) to maintain adequate foam as the glass empties. This prevents the Beer from oxidizing by depressing its flavor and ensuring the diffusion of aromas.
The foam
- The "protector" of the Beer to ensure the correct degree of bitterness, each Beer has its own degree of bitterness and is measurable according to the IBU (International Bitterness Unit) scale.
- The "aromatic "vehicle" of the Beer.
The above is ensured by the Foam Control System (FCS) applied to BIRRATEQUE™ glasses. Laser etching on the bottom keeps active the flow of fine, persistent bubbles that enhance foam and flavor release.
The glass
The material made to create the Birrateque collection is SON.hyx® lead-free Superior Sound glass.
The transparency and brilliance of this innovative glass allow the true color and clarity of the beer and related foam to be appreciated. The combination of the quality of the glass and the image of purity it gives to the beer makes it attractive and unique sensations will be felt during tasting. The glasses are machine-blown with typical mouth-blown characteristics, but more robust and precise.
