TREATMENT
The first thing to do with cast iron is seasoning it.
Seasoning it means putting it on the fire over an open flame, then waiting for it to start smoking and pouring a small amount of oil on it, distributing it over the entire surface and removing the excess. Once it has cooled, repeat the process at least three times. That's it.
Next, let's go on to explain its washing.
Remember that there is no need to resort to detergent: coarse salt, a little oil and a potato are enough to restore the cast iron pot to its original splendor. The important thing is to let it cool thoroughly before running it under water to avoid possible breakage. We recommend that you put it back on the stove and repeat the seasoning process.
The important thing is to ABSOLUTELY AVOID washing in the dishwasher!
If treated properly (no dishwasher, minimal dish detergent, periodic maintenance and careful drying to prevent rusting) these pans are virtually indestructible.
