AIRTIGHT

Bormioli jars are sealed against the surrounding air through the use of the glass lid, natural rubber vacuum seal and stainless steel elastic metal lever, preventing bacteria from forming in the food.

VACUUM STORAGE

During heating, the pressure inside the Bormioli jar increases compared to the pressure outside. The elastic metal lever closure promotes the escape of air and steam present inside while preventing the entry of air from outside. Cooling of the container allows vacuum to form in the headspace of the container. The pressure of the outside air forces the lid down on the container, sealing it. With containers, one can easily verify that a vacuum has been created by lifting the elastic metal lever (or removing it completely) and trying to lift the glass lid and see if it resists. If it is sealed, a Bormioli vacuum has been created.
This simple safety test on the Bormioli jar allows you to avoid the danger of unknowingly consuming spoiled food.
