Why BIT.
Best In Table was born in 2015 from an idea of Marco Sala, who felt the need to fill an undiscovered slice of the market, that of single-use products with manufacturing that was completely environmentally friendly.
#TRUE
BIT's motto. The fight against the senseless logic of waste, the desire to make products in the country where we live, respecting the earth that hosts us.
Not only the will, but also the move to action, to understand that even a drop in the ocean can cause the wave of change, and so, RG also wants to do its part, which is why it believes in BIT and its project.
Ecology for BIT means acting responsibly, and in this it completely aligns with what RG does, always looking for trendy, up-to-date products that are in line not only with customer needs but also in accordance with the law.
The BIT brands
- Nap.ink. The first born of the BIT family, a product made of polyester and cellulose, capable of dressing, coloring, twisting any scenario, embellishing any context. A line that, with its colors and decorations, catapults us exactly where we would like to be.
- Bio Bamboo. Introduced in 2018, it is environmentally friendly, biodegradable and compostable, both industrially and at home. It is created from bamboo fiber and immediately presents itself as a responsible and refined alternative to more classic designs.
- Papermat. Amazing placemats that appear leather to the eye but are made of 100 percent cellulose. They are FSC certified-they are guaranteed to come from responsibly and sustainably managed forests-and are 100 percent recyclable. The sense of elegance that is sought after today with sobriety and minimalism is reflected in these placemats, a symbol of the aesthetic renewal of the table. A rich yet unconventional single use.
- The Luxe. The product that allows venues to approach the quality of BIT products. Made of polyester and cellulose, it is that detail that does not go unnoticed in service. Its texture, feel, and sophisticated elegance have led to some of the world's leading luxury airline and hotel chain groups already introducing it.
- Towellness. Impossible to talk about this product without falling in love with it. Made of viscose and cellulose, it is totally biodegradable and compostable. It is a soft and durable idea. We talk about idea because Towellness can be a washcloth, a towel or a beach towel. Versatile, perfect in hotels and beach bathrooms, ideal for spas. Distinguished by a minimal but at the same time extremely elegant Nordic style, it is the true essence of the BIT world. Why? Because these products have the same texture as cotton, unparalleled durability, and because the beach towel is reusable up to 5 times! It's not science fiction, it's Towelness. It's a product that is incredibly absorbent, dries quickly and over the course of a day can be used multiple times, saving electricity, water and detergents. It is the step we need to take to live in the world we dream of.
The BIT catalog also features Guzzini signature solutions for trendy presentation of Towellness products. Tested for food contact, 100% recyclable and BPA FREE: Guzzini is also fully aligned with the BIT philosophy.
Focus: Bio Bamboo
All inks used are water-based, solvent-free, and for the Bio Bamboo line the colored surface never exceeds 6 percent, in order to comply with legal limits that decree the total compostability of the product.
Bamboo was chosen as the material for the qualities that distinguish it from any other plant element. In fact, it reaches full maturity in a time frame of 3 to 6 years, and then totally decomposes in about 60 to 70 days.
In addition, bamboo enjoys natural antibacterial properties, so much so that it does not need chemicals to grow.
Finally, it amazingly manages to grow where other plants cannot and preserves the soil from landslides and erosion.
Bio Bamboo is a product that reveals great feelings: the time devoted to making it, the respect for the earth that hosts us, the warmth it conveys as it is typically handmade... with Bio Bamboo the future is truly in our hands.
Eco-friendly packaging
Not only are most of the products in the BIT catalog biodegradable and compostable, not only are they often reusable, not only are they unique in design and 100% made in Italy, but they can also boast environmentally friendly packaging.
What would be the point of being able to enjoy an environmentally friendly product if it were then packaged with plastic tape? That's why BIT is committed to making the entire packaging process eco-friendly, even increasing its costs, but maintaining consistency in its mission.
How does the packaging of the products take place?
The raw materials used to produce the cellophane that wraps the napkins are cellulose and wood pulp, sourced from programmed reforestation plantations that comply with FSC and PEFC protocols, suitable for industrial composting according to current standards.
Paper and cardboard from boxes can be recycled countless times if placed in a separate collection context. Starting from the fiber of paper waste, about 95 percent is transformed into new paper. Compared to other productions then pulping results in large savings in energy, water and lumber.
Even the paper scotch itself used is made from renewable resources (kraft paper). It can be disposed of and recycled along with the cardboard of the boxes on which it was glued because it contains no plastics.
Some data
In 2018, BIT produced 24million napkins, 57% of which were biodegradable and compostable.
Of the total, 38% left the company's warehouse with a customized print.
The Italian market for BIT is 23%, with the remainder divided among 22 other countries.
