Thanks to the BLU cafΓ© bar in Via Carmagnola (Isola district), the "suspended coffee" finds a space in Milan.
Those who are not from Naples and have not witnessed firsthand this dignified form of solidarity, however, cannot have failed to have seen it at least once in one of the many early postwar films set in the Neapolitan city. The tradition is to consume one coffee and pay for two, thus leaving an already paid coffee for those who do not even have the chance to indulge in this small daily pleasure. As Matteo Stefani of Blu says, "We have thrown a pebble, we hope others will follow, after all it is a small gesture, but it has a beautiful meaning." The "suspended" coffees are marked on a blackboard. There is no selection criterion for those who request it, the friends of the Blue do not feel up to judging, to select, but on the blackboard a phrase warns stupid profiteers " 'a cuscienza vostra": empowering the applicant is undoubtedly the best possible selection. We liked this example very much, it is not only a small gesture of concrete solidarity, but it is also a discreet and very effective way to make one feel close to those going through a difficult time and not to make them feel excluded from the social context: a smile, a greeting ... a coffee.
