A disposable placemat created especially for the Expo event that will be held in the city from May to October and will see millions of visitors invading the city.
Not just a placemat
At first glance, it looks like it represents an old map of Milan, but it does not. Conceived and created by painter and illustrator Susy Renzi, it is not a simple placemat, but an artistic reinterpretation that offers us a glimpse of the city as it must have looked two hundred years ago, with a few modernist concessions: the Meazza stadium, an airplane in the Linate area and a helicopter flying over the city. The map highlights the 12 gates to the city center, which were connected by strong walls that made Milan inaccessible to enemy attacks; in one corner stands the effigy of Leonardo da Vinci, who lived here and designed the famous Navigli; and, in addition, between a square and an alley or at the side of a garden, drawings of panettone, Milanese risotto with ossobuco, cutlets, and other local gastronomic specialties appear.
Stand out with class
The Mediolanum placemat is a small sign of distinction for the establishments that will want to adopt it and a gesture of attention to the customers, especially foreigners, who will visit us in large numbers in the coming months, to whom it can also be given as a nice memento of the meal.
Every venue in Milan and beyond will be able to use it to serve a quick lunch, breakfast, a table aperitif, but also a trendy dinner or a food pairing (the latest trend of pairing a dish with a cocktail).
